Corporate Responsibility

”la Caixa” Banking Foundation, a committed organization

On May 22nd, 2014, “la Caixa” General Assembly approved the creation of the “la Caixa” Banking Foundation, as part of the Group's reorganization process.

This process involved the organization's necessary adaptation to the Savings Banks and Banking Foundations Law of 27 December 2013 and, at the same time, the ability to maintain and strengthen the mission and values of leadership, trust and social commitment which inspired the foundation of  ”la Caixa”.

The entity was founded in 1904,as a savings bank. Strongly committed to the country’s social and economic development, its social purpose was to prevent people’s financial exclusion.

“This savings bank is an entity with economic interests, but, above all, it is built on social ideals.“ (1927).

Francesc Moragas Barret
(Founder and first President)

Just as it did before, the organization works with a vision of long term business which takes into account all the people and collectives that it is in contact with. And it is convinced that, from our position and with the guidance of our values of leadership, trust and social commitment, it is part of our corporate responsibility to encourage a sustainable attitude in our area of influence.
